Celebrities who put down the champagne to give Dry January a shot

These four celebrities participated in Dry January and have some motivation for you.

Saying no to a mimosa-binge brunch the day after New Years, might actually be a relief to ditch, after saying yes to Dry January. But, that commitment lasts a whole month. By the last Sunday of the month, you might be tempted to reply to the group chat – ‘mimosa flight on me’ — after a few weeks of cutting out booze. If you’re looking for a little mid-slump encouragement or just some people who get it, here are a few celebrities who did Dry January and who you can follow along for some motivation:

  1. Emily Robinson: Marathoner, founder of Dry January and CEO of London Sport Emily Robinson took part in Dry January since its founding in 2013. This year marks her 10th year of Dry January. You can find more information about Robinson on the Alcohol Change UK website, as well as follow her social media for more inspiration.

  2. Tinx: Wellness Influence, famously called “Tik-Tok’s big sister” by Forbes, Tinx, announced her decision to take part in Dry January last year on her TikTok. She actually started a few weeks early. After a few days of no booze, she said that she already “felt like Iron Man” and noticed more time in her schedule to focus on healthier hobbies.

  3. Kelly Ripa: Daytime actor and TV-show host Kelly Ripa did Dry January and never looked back. Ripa and a few friends vowed to stop drinking for a month and noticed that they started to feel better. In an interview with People, Ripa said, “I just didn't really feel the need or desire to go back to it.”

  4. Savannah Guthrie: Today News Broadcaster Savannah Guthrie remains an outspoken advocate for the importance of mindful drinking. In an interview with Today, Guthrie called the challenge a “dryish January,” throwing out an all-or-nothing mindset to “consciously drink less even if [not] give up alcohol altogether.”
